FAQ

Many people ask, "Will therapy work for me?", and/or "Is therapy covered by my health insurance?"

I hope the following answers will clear up some of these common questions.  If not, please submit your question through the contact section found at the bottom of the "Home" tab.

Will my health insurance cover therapy?

We recommend you contact your insurance company for the most up to date information on your coverage, including copays and deductibles.

How long will the process take?

There is no timeline in counseling; it begins with history taking, and leads to the development of treatment goals.  During the process of healing come discoveries to process and overcome.  As various traumas, or inner conflicts, are resolved, others may follow.

The important thing is to be patient with yourself, and understand that healing is an journey that cannot be rushed.

What are your areas of expertise?

I am formally trained as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor.  My approach is "Wellness" focused, which means I work with individuals' unique strengths and attributes.  I am also trained as a faith based and

trauma informed counselor. Additionally, I utilize many treatment interventions, and apply specific modalities based on my clients' needs and strengths.  For instance, a strong writer may benefit from Narrative therapy, while a person of strong faith might benefit from drawing on their spiritual beliefs.

What is your approach to therapy?

As an Eclectic Counselor, who utilizes a strengths/resiliency based approach, I believe in helping clients work through hardships, grief and psychological wounds, in a holistic manner. This approach to psychotherapy, known as, "The Wellness Model", examines client history, traumatic factors, sleep patterns, lifestyle, spiritualality, and more, to create a treatment plan leading to client driven goals.  We focus on thoughts, emotions, injuries and fears, to discover and eliminate the root of distress, whether it be hidden motives, difficult life circumstances or stifling obstacles. Utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Attachment Therapy, Narrative and Arts Therapy, Play Therapy, Faith-based Counseling, and more...your treatment approach is customized to your unique qualities and strengths.
